Buccaneers News · Pat King Named Athletic Director

Dear Bowling Green Membership,

It is with great pride that I write this letter introducing Pat King as Athletic Director of Bowling Green School effective immediately.  He started his career at Bowling Green in August 2001.  Coach Pat does not come to this role without experience.  For three years he served as the AD and basketball coach at Oak Forest.  This school year, Coach Pat returned home.  Along with AD responsibilities, he will be our boys’ basketball coach.

Through his sixteen years of working with young people, Coach Pat’s educational belief is that all students can succeed when provided with a caring and dedicated support system of teachers, parents/guardians, administration, school support staff, and community members.

As Athletic Director, Coach Pat King’s duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Providing guidance and direction for a school’s sports program
  • Reviewing budgets and allocating spending on items such as team travel, equipment purchases, and facility upkeep
  • Coordinating with coaches about the scheduling of games and practices
  • Collaborating with MSAIS about scheduling issues
  • Speaking with MSAIS about subjects such as postseason play
  • Determining the time allocated for a field, court, or weight room
  • Working with coaches and perhaps a travel coordinator to plan trips
  • Coordinating officials and umpires at games
  • Filing reports on the status of each team and its successes and shortcomings
  • Mediating any disputes between athletes and coaches or between coaches
  • Remaining knowledgeable of all current MSAIS rules and regulations for eligibility
  • Provide hands-on leadership by reviewing all potential athlete’s records
  • Working with all school administrators, secretaries, and counselors to assure that student-athletes are eligible for a given sport
